Andrea Scheibel holds a Bachelor of Music in Percussion from The University of Iowa. She is the music technical specialist in the School of Arts, Communication, Business & Entrepreneurship at Onondaga Community College. She is a professional musician in Syracuse, NY, and in 2026 became Executive Director of the Society for New Music.

Andrea Scheibel holds a Bachelor of Music in Percussion from The University of Iowa. She was trained in orchestral, jazz, and world percussion. She is the principal percussionist in the Onondaga Civic Symphony Orchestra and subs for the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. She has played percussion in a variety of local contexts, including Pushed Aside: Reclaiming Gage (2019), an opera about women’s suffragist and Central New York native Matilda Gage; the premiere of Diane Jones’s score accompanying the silent film The Doll (Ernst Lubitsch, 1919) at The Palace Theatre in 2019; the East Coast premiere of Olivia Kieffer’s Play the Robot in 2020 (as part of a percussion trio); and the premiere of Nicolas Scherzinger’s score accompanying the silent film Sherlock Jr. (Buster Keaton, 1924) at Le Moyne College in 2025. She is also a member of the new music ensemble, Burnable CDs (formerly 315 Ensemble), created by composer Chris Cresswell.
Since 2016, she has worked as the music technical specialist at Onondaga Community College (OCC), where she is based in the Department of Art, Communication, Media & Music (School of Arts, Communication, Business & Entrepreneurship). She manages the Department's Music Resource Center, for which she created a music-library website and library catalog.
Andrea has been an active member of the Society for New Music in Syracuse — the region’s premiere organization dedicated to new music, living composers, and emerging artists in Upstate New York. She has served on the Executive Board since 2021, first as Secretary and then as Personnel Manager. She hosted the Society for New Music radio show, Fresh Ink, on WCNY. In June 2026, she became Executive Director of the Society.
